What makes MapTheWay “Special”
Categories of Spots - MapTheWay lets you define your own categories of spots, associated with different markers on the map. The tool goes even further and generates automatically a panel with toggling categories where your visitors can choose to show or hide the corresponding sets of spots, improving the readibility and the navigation in your maps.
Special Graphics - You have the possibility to add Scores to the spots. Either by using pre-designed icons or by using your own graphics. You can customize your maps the way you want.
Areas - You can define areas around your spots in case you want to show a territory related to the spots. It can be usefull to describe a zone of influence or a logistic capability. You can choose the color, the radius and the transparency of the territory.
Enhanced readibility - For better readibility your visitors can choose to show or hide the Spots Labels, Areas or Scores. When theses graphics do not appear, still you can see them by rolling the mouse over the spots.
Link behaviour - The visitors have the possibility to open the marker information and see a text, an address, a link and a photo, which can be enlarged/reduced. You have the possibility to configure the behaviour of the link. You can specify if you want to create a new window to access the link or to replace the browser window by the content of the new page.
Embedding in blogs or Websites - The “Create Map” feature accessible in the home page gives you the possibility to create Widget map, manually, that you can easily embed in your website, your facebook or your blog. However if you manage a large website with dynamic contents then you will be interested in the XML version, you can install in your website, which allows you to create maps dynamically by generating a simple XML structure that you pass to your map. The flash program read the XML and build the map based on the spots described in the XML. You can then decide some default behaviour and as well manage the graphics of your spots. The map XML is a very simple structure you can generate or edit manually.

Re-location - When creating a map by using the Widget creation, MapTheWay defines automatically the location of the spot by resolving the address using Google Map service. In some geographic areas this resolution can be approximate. The tool allows you to relocate the spot with precision by using the drag and drop feature (version Mapdget)
3D - Maptheway uses the last version of flash Google Api which allows to navigate in the map using the perspective mode which gives a more “3D” experience to your visitors, like the one proposed in Google Earth.
Web2 - MapTheWay proposes a Web2 feature which gives you the possibility to interact more dynamically with visitors and increase productivity. You may choose to configure your map to allow spot creation request - See the tutorial. When a visitor will submit a spot to your map you will receive a mail with the spot propostion and if you decide to integrate it into your map you just need to add the spot received in the mail to your map XML.
